Vaulnaveys-le-Bas liegt etwa elf Kilometer südsüdöstlich von Grenoble. Umgeben wird Vaulnaveys-le-Bas von den Nachbargemeinden Vaulnaveys-le-Haut im Norden und Osten, Séchilienne im Süden und Südosten, Vizille im Südwesten sowie Brié-et-Angonnes im Westen und Nordwesten.
