Geographie
Malafretaz liegt etwa 17 Kilometer nordnordwestlich von Bourg-en-Bresse und etwa 24 Kilometer ostnordöstlich der Stadt Mâcon am Reyssouze. Umgeben wird Malafretaz von den Nachbargemeinden
- Jayat im Norden und Nordwesten,
- Foissiat im Norden und Nordosten,
- Bresse Vallons mit Étrez im Osten und Cras-sur-Reyssouze im Osten und Südosten,
- Saint-Martin-le-Châtel im Süden und Südwesten,
- Montrevel-en-Bresse im Westen.
