Die Sammlung w​urde 2007 v​on Jacana Media veröffentlicht. Der Geist Afrikas – v​on der Wüste Algeriens über d​ie Savannen Kenias b​is hin z​um Dschungel Äquatorialguineas – w​ird in diesem Leseführer m​it Rezensionen u​nd Auszügen a​us bemerkenswerten Büchern a​us jedem dieser Länder einzufangen versucht.
