Montoillot liegt etwa 25 Kilometer westsüdwestlich von Dijon. Die Gemeinde wird umgeben von Aubigny-lès-Sombernon im Norden, Échannay im Osten, La Bussière-sur-Ouche im Südosten, Commarin im Süden sowie Semarey im Westen.
