Cogny liegt etwa 32 Kilometer südöstlich von Bourges. Umgeben wird Cogny von den Nachbargemeinden Bussy im Norden, Chalivoy-Milon im Osten und Nordosten, Thaumiers im Süden, Verneuil im Südwesten sowie Dun-sur-Auron im Westen und Nordwesten.
