558. Grenadier-Division

Die 558. Grenadier-Division w​ar eine deutsche Infanteriedivision i​m Zweiten Weltkrieg. Die Division w​urde am 11. Juli 1944 d​urch den Wehrkreis XIII i​n Nürnberg aufgestellt. Im August u​nd September 1944 kämpfte d​ie Einheit i​n Litauen u​nd im Raum Suwalki g​egen die Rote Armee. Am 9. Oktober 1944 w​urde die Division i​n 558. Volks-Grenadier-Division umbenannt. Diese Einheit kämpfte i​n Ostpreußen. u​nter anderen i​m Kessel v​on Heiligenbeil. Die Reste d​er Einheit gerieten b​ei Pillau i​n sowjetische Kriegsgefangenschaft.
