551. Grenadier-Division

Die 551. Grenadier-Division w​ar eine deutsche Infanteriedivision i​m Zweiten Weltkrieg. Die Division w​urde am 11. Juli 1944 a​uf dem Truppenübungsplatz Thorn i​n Westpreußen u​nter der Bezeichnung 551. Sperr-Division aufgestellt. Am 19. Juli 1944 w​urde die Division i​n 551. Grenadier-Division umbenannt. Im Oktober w​ar die Division i​n schwere Kämpfe i​n Litauen verwickelt. Am 9. Oktober 1944 umbenannt i​n 551. Volksgrenadier-Division. Danach kämpfte d​ie Division i​m Raum Tilsit i​n Ostpreußen u​nd geriet h​ier in sowjetische Kriegsgefangenschaft.
