La Chabanne liegt etwa 27 Kilometer ostsüdöstlich von Vichy. Die Nachbargemeinden von La Chabanne sind Saint-Clément im Westen und Norden, Saint-Nicolas-des-Biefs im Nordosten und Osten, Laprugne im Süden sowie Ferrières-sur-Sichon im Westen.
