Bis zur landesweiten Neuordnung der französischen Kantone im März 2015 gehörten zum Kanton La Grand-Combe die sechs Gemeinden Branoux-les-Taillades, La Grand-Combe, Lamelouze, Laval-Pradel, Les Salles-du-Gardon und Sainte-Cécile-d’Andorge. Sein Zuschnitt entsprach einer Fläche von 93,72 km2. Er besaß vor 2015 einen anderen INSEE-Code als heute, nämlich 3012.
