Bis zur landesweiten Neuordnung der französischen Kantone im März 2015 gehörten zum Kanton Buzançais die elf Gemeinden Argy, Buzançais, Chezelles, La Chapelle-Orthemale, Méobecq, Neuillay-les-Bois, Saint-Genou, Saint-Lactencin, Sougé, Vendœuvres und Villedieu-sur-Indre. Sein Zuschnitt entsprach einer Fläche von 438,69 km2. Er besaß vor 2015 einen anderen INSEE-Code als heute, nämlich 3606.
