Fortan liegt etwa 17 Kilometer nordwestlich des Stadtzentrums von Vendôme. Nachbargemeinden sind Savigny-sur-Braye im Norden und Westen, Mazangé im Osten und Südosten sowie Lunay im Süden und Westen.
