Mottereau liegt etwa 24 Kilometer nordnordwestlich von Châteaudun und wird umgeben von den Nachbargemeinden Montigny-le-Chartif im Norden, Vieuvicq im Osten und Nordosten, Yèvres im Südosten, Brou im Süden sowie Frazé im Westen.
