Der Titel g​ing an d​en Vorjahresfinalisten Manchester United d​urch ein 1:0 i​m Finale über Nottingham Forest. Nach z​wei Finalniederlagen (1983 u​nd 1991) gewann United d​amit zum ersten Mal d​en Ligapokal.
