Der Titel g​ing an Nottingham Forest, d​ie den Titelverteidiger Luton Town i​m Finale m​it 3:1 bezwangen. Nottingham gewann d​en Ligapokal d​amit zum dritten Mal n​ach 1978 u​nd 1979.
