Bis zur landesweiten Neuordnung der französischen Kantone im März 2015 gehörten zum Kanton Grandvillars die 14 Gemeinden Boron, Bourogne, Brebotte, Bretagne, Chavanatte, Chavannes-les-Grands, Froidefontaine, Grandvillars, Grosne, Méziré, Morvillars, Recouvrance, Suarce und Vellescot. Sein Zuschnitt entsprach einer Fläche von 88 km km2. Er besaß vor 2015 den INSEE-Code 9013.
