Der Crescent, ein von Amtrak betriebener Reisezug, verbindet Gastonia mit New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham und New Orleans. Der Bahnhof befindet sich in der Hancock Street Nr. 350.
Gastonia ist außerdem ein Zentrum der Quiltherstellung.
