Sie entstand nach 1882 durch die Vereinigung der Orte Opatovce (deutsch [Neutra-]Opatowitz) und Výčapy. Zwischen 1960 und 1994 war auch die Gemeinde Ľudovítová ein Teil der Gemeinde.
