Geschichte
Das Bistum Formosa wurde am 11. Februar 1957 durch Papst Pius XII. mit der Päpstlichen Bulle Quandoquidem adoranda aus Gebietsabtretungen des Bistums Resistencia errichtet. Es ist dem Erzbistum Resistencia als Suffraganbistum unterstellt.
