Herstellung
Eine Darstellung geht von Neopentylchlorid aus. Mit Quecksilber wird Neopentylquecksilberchlorid gebildet, das dann mit Brom zum gewünschten Endprodukt umgesetzt wird.[2] Alternativ kann Neopentanol mit HBr zu 1-Brom-2,2-dimethylpropan verestert werden.
