Vor Beginn der Spielsaison zogen die Houston Oilers nach Nashville um und benannten sich Tennessee Oilers. In der Saison 1997 spielten sie im Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis.
Die Saison endete mit dem Pro Bowl am 1. Februar 1998 im Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
