Looney wurde im NBA-Draft 2015 an 30. Stelle von den Golden State Warriors ausgewählt. Am 27. Januar 2016 debütierte er beim Sieg gegen die Dallas Mavericks, in dem er zwei Punkte und zwei Rebounds für sich verbuchen konnte.[1]
