Die Gemeinde Champvallon wurde am 1. Januar 2017 mit Aillant-sur-Tholon, Villiers-sur-Tholon und Volgré zur neuen Gemeinde (Commune nouvelle) Montholon zusammengeschlossen. Die Gemeinde gehörte zum Kanton Charny (bis 2015 Aillant-sur-Tholon).
