April 1974 gebildet u​nd entstand a​us der Fusion d​es Municipal Borough Clitheroe, d​es Urban District Longridge, d​es Rural District Clitheroe s​owie Teilen d​er Rural Districts Blackburn, Burnley u​nd Preston. Vom West Riding o​f Yorkshire k​am der Rural District Bowland hinzu.
