Der Ort war bis 2004 ein Teil der ehemaligen Gemeinde Hvalvík und gehört seit 2005 wie Hvalvík zur Sunda kommuna. Im Ort befinden sich ein Zentrum der Inneren Mission und das Kongress- und Fortbildungszentrum Leguhusið í Nesvík.
