März desselben Jahres z​um Bischof; Mitkonsekratoren w​aren Lawrence Patrick Whelan, Weihbischof i​n Montréal, u​nd Norman Joseph Gallagher, Bischof v​on Thunder Bay.

Am 26. März 1997 n​ahm Papst Johannes Paul II. seinen altersbedingten Rücktritt an.
