Der Ort liegt etwa neun Kilometer südlich der Kreisstadt. Die Freguesia entstand 1962 durch Abtrennung von São João da Ribeira. Sehenswert sind die Pfarrkirche, eine Sonnenuhr sowie die Fonte da Igreja.
