Geschichte

Stijn van Cauter initiierte Until Death Overtakes Me, ursprünglich Macabre Destiny, 1999 als Soloprojekt mit unterschiedlichen Gastmusikern. Eine Vielzahl der Veröffentlichungen des Projektes erschienen über van Cauters Label Nulll Records. Vereinzelt veröffentlichte Until Death Overtakes Me über andere Label wie Firebox Records, Marche Funebre Productions oder Dusktone. Im Jahr 2011 stellte van Cauter die Produktion weiterer Musik vorübergehend ein. Im Jahr 2016 reaktivierte er Until Death Overtakes Me mit einer Reihe Download-Singles, weitere Alben und Kompilationen folgten daraufhin.[1]

Stil

Die Musik von Until Death Overtakes Me wird als Funeral Doom bezeichnet, der Elemente aus Dark Wave und Ambient nutzt.[1] Der Gesang wird als typisches Growling beschrieben, während die Perkussion als kaum vorhanden benannt wird. Das Gitarrenspiel wird als dröhnend bezeichnet und der Keyboardeinsatz wird mit dem Klang einer Kirchenorgel verglichen.[2]
