Ukhwejo ist eine Nordwest-Bantusprache und gehört zur Makaa-Njem-Gruppe, die als Guthrie-Zone A80 klassifiziert wird.
Sie hat die Dialekte Ukhwejo, Bikaka, Piiga und Kamsili (auch Ngamsile).
