Samuel Frederick Gray

Samuel Frederick Gray (* 10. Dezember 1766 in London; † 2. April 1828 in Chelsea (London)) war ein britischer Botaniker, Zoologe und Pharmakologe. Sein offizielles botanisches Autorenkürzel lautet „Gray“.

Gray war von 1797 bis 1800 als Pharmakologe in Walsall tätig. Später zog er nach London, um dort Botanik zu lehren. Er schrieb unter anderem umfangreiche Werke über Muscheln und Arzneimittel.

Er war der Vater von zwei großen Naturwissenschaftlern: John Edward Gray (1800–1875) und George Robert Gray (1808–1872).
