Prodromos (Limassol)

Prodromos, griechisch Πρόδρομος, ist ein Dorf im Bezirk Limassol auf der Mittelmeerinsel Zypern. Es liegt im Troodos-Gebirge in der Nähe des Olympos auf 1380 Meter Höhe und ist damit das höchstliegende Dorf der Insel. 2011 hatte der Ort 123 Einwohner.[1] Prodromos ist Standort eines Wintersportzentrums mit drei Skipisten.

Bauwerke

Die Hauptkirche des Dorfes, Agios Ioannis Prodromos (heiliger Johannes der Vorläufer) ist dem heiligen Johannes dem Täufer als Vorläufer (Prodromos) von Jesus Christus gewidmet. Die Kirche wurde 1935 an der Stelle eines Vorgängerbaus aus dem 13. Jahrhundert errichtet.[2]

Außerdem liegen in dem Dorf die Kapellen Agios Onoufrios und Agias Triadas. Zwei Kilometer außerhalb des Dorfes liegt das Trikoukias-Kloster.
