Der Wahlkreis Kanchipuram entstand i​m Zuge d​er Neuordnung d​er Wahlkreise i​m Vorfeld d​er Lok-Sabha-Wahl 2009. Vorgängerwahlkreis w​ar der Wahlkreis Chengalpattu. Ein Wahlkreis Kanchipuram h​atte bereits b​ei der ersten Lok-Sabha-Wahl 1951 existiert.
