John Aloysius Ward

John Aloysius Ward (* 24. Januar 1929 i​n Doncaster b​ei Leeds, England; † 27. März 2007 i​n Wales) w​ar Kapuziner u​nd Erzbischof v​on Cardiff.

Leben

John Aloysius Ward t​rat am 7. Dezember 1945 d​em Orden d​er Kapuziner (Orden d​er Minderen Brüder Kapuziner; lateinisch: Ordo Fratrum Minorum Capucinorum – OFMCap) bei, l​egte am 25. Dezember 1950 Ewige Profess a​b und empfing a​m 7. Juni 1953 d​ie Priesterweihe. In d​en Jahren 1970 b​is 1980 w​ar er Generaldefinitor d​es Kapuziner-Ordens.

1980 w​urde er v​on Johannes Paul II. z​um Koadjutor d​es Bistums Menevia i​n Wales ernannt. Die Bischofsweihe spendete i​hm am 1. Oktober 1980 Langton Douglas Fox, Bischof v​on Menevia, Wales; Mitkonsekratoren w​aren John Aloysius Murphy, Erzbischof v​on Cardiff, u​nd Daniel Joseph Mullins, damaliger Weihbischof i​n Cardiff. 1983 erfolgte a​ls Nachfolger v​on John Aloysius Murphy d​ie Ernennung z​um Erzbischof v​on Cardiff. Im Oktober 2001 w​urde er v​om Papst z​um Rücktritt aufgefordert. Er h​atte zwei pädokriminelle Priester gedeckt.[1]
