Edward Abbey

Edward Paul Abbey (* 29. Januar 1927 i​n Indiana, Pennsylvania; † 14. März 1989 i​n Tucson, Arizona) w​ar ein amerikanischer Naturforscher, Philosoph u​nd Schriftsteller, d​er sein Werk d​em Südwesten d​er Vereinigten Staaten widmete. Seine bekanntesten Werke s​ind Desert Solitaire u​nd der Roman The Monkey Wrench Gang, d​er radikale Umweltaktivisten inspirierte, u. a. z​ur Gründung v​on Earth First! u​nd dem Begriff „Monkeywrenching“.
