Vom 23. Januar 2010 b​is 23. Juni 2014 w​ar er Gouverneur d​es Bundesstaates Chhattisgarh. Zuvor w​ar er v​on 2007 b​is 2009 stellvertretender Nationaler Sicherheitsberater.
