Robert Maxwell, 4. Earl of Nithsdale (* Januar 1628; † vor dem 23. März 1683 in Edinburgh), war ein schottischer Adeliger.
Leben
Sein Vater war John Maxwell, 3. Earl of Nithsdale; seine Mutter war Elisabeth Gordon, einer Schwester von John Gordon, 1. Viscount of Kenmure. Beim Tod seines Vaters im Jahr 1677 erbte er dessen Adelstitel als 4. Earl of Nithsdale, 12. Lord Maxwell und 8. Lord Herries of Terregles.
Durch seine Ehe, geschlossen am 25. März 1669 mit Lucy Douglas, einer Tochter von William Douglas, 1. Marquess of Douglas, hatte er einen Sohn; William (der spätere 5. Earl) sowie zwei Töchter; Mary und Anne.
