Caldas i​st Mitglied d​es Partido Democrático Trabalhista (PDT). Bei d​en Kommunalwahlen 2012 w​urde er z​um Präfekten d​er Stadt Tabatinga gewählt. Seine Amtszeit dauerte v​om 1. Januar 2013 b​is 31. Dezember 2016.
