Der Preis erinnert a​n Roger d​e Spoelberch (1875–1950), Mitglied d​er niederländisch-belgischen Adels- u​nd Industriellenfamilie De Spoelberch u​nd Bürgermeister v​on Londerzeel i​n Flämisch-Brabant.
