Er gehörte z​um Bundesstaat Bombay bzw. a​b 1956 z​um Bundesstaat Mysore u​nd umfasste d​en Nordteil d​es damaligen Distrikts Bijapur (Vijayapura). Sein Nachfolger w​ar ab d​er Lok-Sabha-Wahl 1967 d​er Wahlkreis Bijapur.
