Francisco Villaespesa

Francisco Villaespesa (* 14. Oktober 1877 in Laujar de Andarax, Almería; † 9. April 1936 in Madrid) war ein spanischer Schriftsteller.

Er stammte aus einer Juristenfamilie, schloss sich früh Literaturkreisen an und leitete eine Schauspielertruppe. Er gilt als Wegbereiter des Modernismus.

1899 veröffentlichte er seine erste Gedichtsammlung Luchas („Kämpfe“). Sein größter Erfolg war das Theaterstück El alcazar de las perlas („Die Burg der Perlen“, deutsch Perlenschloss) im Jahr 1911, das die Stadt Granada[1] zum Thema hat.
