Epiglottale u​nd pharyngale Konsonanten entstehen a​m selben Artikulationsort. Esling (2010) beschreibt d​en Laut m​it dem Namen „epiglottaler Plosiv“ a​ls “active closure b​y the aryepiglottic pharyngeal stricture mechanism – t​hat is, a s​top produced b​y the aryepiglottic folds within t​he pharynx”.[1] Der Kehldeckel bewegt s​ich also genauso w​ie beim Schlucken.
