Emily Simpson war vom 10. Dezember 1988 bis zur Scheidung 1993 mit ihrem australischen Schauspielerkollegen Jerome Ehlers verheiratet. Aus dieser Ehe entstammt ihr 1990 geborener Sohn Jackson.
