Der zum Einzugsgebiet der Laguna Merín zählende Arroyo Malo entspringt in der Cuchilla de Mangrullo und führt anschließend durch das Gebiet des Departamento Cerro Largo. Er mündet schließlich nach etwa 85 Kilometern zurückgelegter Wegstrecke in den Río Tacuarí.
