Wilaya

Als Wilaya (arabisch ولاية wilāya ‚Herrschaft, Amtszeit; (Bundes-)Staat, -Land, Verwaltungsbezirk‘, pl. Wilāyāt ولايات) bezeichnet man Verwaltungsbezirke im islamischen Kulturraum. Ein Wilaya wird von einem Wali, türk. Vali (dt. Gouverneur) geleitet.
