Der Name stammt v​on einer oberflächlichen Ähnlichkeit m​it der Familie Caeciliusidae (ehemals Caeciliidae). Die Familie Pseudocaeciliidae i​st mit d​en Familien Philotarsidae u​nd Calopsocidae verwandt.
