Mbamba Bay
Mbamba oder Mbamba Bay liegt in der Region Ruvuma am tansanischen Ufer des Malawisees, ca. 40 km nördlich der Grenze zu Mosambik bei 11° 18′ S, 34° 48′ O, 470 m Seehöhe. Hier findet man im See den Buntbarsch Labidochromis sp. Mbamba[1].
Die Ortschaft hat etwa 9.100 Einwohner[2].
In der Kolonialzeit gab es Pläne für eine Eisenbahnstrecke von der Küstenstadt Mtwara nach Mbamba, die jedoch nicht umgesetzt wurden. Heute wird weiter geplant, eine solche Eisenbahn (Mtwara Development Corridor genannt) doch noch zu bauen.
