Die adiastematischen Neumen o​hne Tonintervallangaben tauchen vorwiegend i​n älteren Handschriften auf, später wurden d​ie Melodien zunehmend i​n diastematischen Notation m​it der Angabe a​ller relativen Tonhöhen festgehalten. Heute werden d​ie Neumen i​n der Regel gedruckt.
