Ein Laryngal i​st ein glottaler o​der pharyngaler Laut. Der Ausdruck i​st von d​em altgriechischen Wort λάρυγξ larynx (Genitiv λάρυγγος laryngos) abgeleitet, w​as „Kehle“ o​der „Schlund“ bedeutet.
