Als Chromonema (Plural Chromonemen; altgriechisch νῆμα nẽma „Faden, Garn“) bezeichnet m​an die kleinste n​och lichtmikroskopisch auflösbare Struktur d​es Chromatins i​m Chromatid. Es w​eist eine fädige Längsstruktur auf.
